Transnistria is ready to save an exhibition about Soviet soldiers from vandals in Moldova
Another act of vandalism against the memory of the Great Patriotic War was committed in Moldova.
This time, vandals stole all the stands of the “Remember Me” photo exhibition, which were placed on the fence of the central park in Chisinau, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The exhibition was dedicated to Victory Day. It was prepared by local activists using archival photos. They have already filed a statement with the police.
The Russian Embassy in Moldova responded to the incident.
“Another act of the heirs of defeat was recorded in Chisinau. On the eve of Victory Day, an exhibition of youth activists dedicated to memorable milestones of the Second World War was desecrated. In particular, the liberation of Moldavian land from fascist invaders during the Iasi-Kishinev operation of 1944. We share the public’s strong reaction and support the appeal of the exhibition’s authors to law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice,” says the official statement of the diplomatic mission.
The President of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky invited the creators of the exhibition to place it in Tiraspol.
“Who wanted to take away from residents and guests of the Moldovan capital the opportunity to touch the history of the region, to remember the Iasi-Chisinau operation, without which it is unknown what the future of the Moldovan state would have been like? These are, indeed, the heirs of defeat, as they were called at the Russian embassy. I have no doubt that the exhibition attracted attention. I suggest its creators duplicate the exhibition and arrange it on the territory of Transnistria,” Krasnoselsky wrote in his Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that in March, vandals sawed a monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the Moldovan village of Ivancha into scrap metal. In February, a memorial to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the village of Rusca, Hincesti region, was desecrated. At the beginning of November 2020, unknown persons defaced the monument to Soviet commander Grigory Kotovsky in the city of Hincesti, which until 1990 was called Kotovsk.
In July, vandals broke the facing tiles at a military burial site of the Great Patriotic War in the village of Gura Bicului. In April, a memorial plaque with the names of Soviet citizens executed during the fascist occupation was destroyed on site in one of the parks in Chisinau. In November 2019, unknown persons destroyed memorial granite slabs on the walls of the long-term firing point of the 417 Stalin line, located on the outskirts of the village of Koshnitsa, Dubossary district.
