Transnistria strikes back
The Supreme Council of Transnistria adopted today, in first reading, the legislative initiative of the head of the republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky, which obliges the Dniester State District Power Plant to sell electricity to Moldova for US dollars.
This was reported by the agency “News of Pridnestrovie”, a correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
This initiative is a response to the actions of Moldovan banks, which blocked the foreign currency accounts of 25 Pridnestrovian enterprises. Through these enterprises, the unrecognized republic converted excess Moldovan currency, proceeds from the sale of electricity, into the currency of other countries, necessary for the purchase of food, medicine and other essential goods.
“Leis are supplied in huge volumes to the Dniester State District Power Plant. And the Dniester State District Power Plant sells this currency, as required by law. And there is a large “balcony” of lei overhanging. Moldovan colleagues have gone so far as to say: “We don’t know about the origin of the Moldovan lei here, on the territory of Transnistria.” So this is all elementary. Look at the export/import volume. And draw a conclusion where there are so many lei in our economy,” said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
Moldova purchases 85% of all electricity from the Moldavian State District Power Plant.
