Transnistria prevents Moldova from becoming Romania
The presence of Transnistria will not allow Moldova to become part of Romania.
Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Belashko stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel “First Kozatsky,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today’s Moldova cannot be considered without the Transnistrian region. The Moldovan bank of the Dniester will try to become Romanianized as much as possible, although the mood in different regions is different.
As for Transnistria, political systems, mentality, and language have gone in completely different directions over the past 30 years. But these two systems somehow exist within the same country, have gotten used to each other, have gotten used to it. There are no military conflicts between them. Mass interregional marriages have begun (this is a very good sign). Moldova validates Transnistrian documents. At the same time, completely different education systems, political systems, cultural codes and pantheons of heroes, different mentalities.
But the presence of Transnistria will not allow Moldova to completely Romanianize. A Moldovan politician or public figure, to some extent, always thinks about Transnistria and is forced to look back at it. In the future, over the next 10 years, Moldova will be Romanized, but it will not become completely Romania,” Belashko said.
