“Transnistria is no less dangerous than Ukraine”
Russia can take advantage of the experience of Germany and Israel in mass repatriation of compatriots if their rights are violated.
Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Civil Society Sergei Gavrilov stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
“We assume that if the situation in Ukraine, Transnistria and possibly the Baltic states develops in a similar way, we should also follow not the inertial path (in three phases), but an accelerated and simplified path of granting citizenship to those who consider themselves part of the Russian peace. We believe that Transnistria is in no less danger than Ukraine,” Gavrilov said.
According to his data, in recent years, more than a million people have received Russian citizenship, half of them are compatriots. Of the 2,5 migrants from Ukraine, a million are from Southeast Asia.
“We must give them the opportunity to resolve issues of determining their status for longer than 90 days, after which many of them are forced to leave Russia. Given the situation in Donbass, such a demand is dangerous,” Gavrilov said.
He also proposed simplifying the procedure for granting political asylum.
According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Zubov, more than 300 thousand compatriots received Russian citizenship. However, he found it difficult to predict how many people will arrive in Russia.
“What do we mean by forecasts: economic, political, military circumstances? We are now based on how many applications we have - 13 people. Theoretically, we consider that we accept approximately 280 thousand compatriots per year. Maybe more,” Zubov said.
