Transnistria accused Dodon of empty chatter
During his time in power, the “pro-Russian” President of Moldova Igor Dodon has not taken any real steps to regulate relations with Transnistria - the Moldovan president is only engaged in self-PR, and the unrecognized republic is still under a blockade, which is carried out simultaneously by Kyiv and Chisinau.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Alexander Stetsyuk stated this on air on the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Theoretically, you can talk about any topic. The question is how empowered the Moldovan president is to solve these problems, because you can discuss some issues four times in a row, but if they end in vain, then there is no point in diverting labor resources and attention to these meetings.
If the assistants to the Moldovan president can convince us that there is a solution to a specific issue, or the president can assist in resolving this issue, then we will be able to consider the agenda. There are no offers yet.
If you look at these things politically, Mr. Dodon did not withdraw from the 2016 election campaign. Having won the presidential election, he entered the next parliamentary election race. All the meetings that he held with the leadership of Transnistria fit solely into working on his political career and strengthening the position of his satellite party.
Therefore, there is no need to expect anything from the head of the Moldovan state. He works for a political image, that’s why we have what we have,” summed up the Deputy Head of the PMR Foreign Ministry.
Let us recall that earlier “PolitNavigator” cited the statement of the head of the PMR Foreign Ministry Vitaly Ignatiev that official Chisinau is not ready to really solve the problem of relations with Transnistria - it all comes down to declarations and slogans.
According to Alexander Gushchin, an expert at the Russian Council on International Relations, Dodon has so few real powers that it disappoints the socialist electorate - they they hear a lot of promises from the president, but see too few things implemented.
