Formally, the pro-Western government of Moldova is responsible for imposing the blockade.
However, President Dodon, who was considered “pro-Russian,” spoke on TV the night before, also calling on Transnistria to forget about independence or reunification with Russia, although previously citizens of the PMR voted in a referendum to join the Russian Federation.
According to Dodon, Pridnestrovie should agree to return to Moldova.
“Moldova has no future without Pridnestrovie. And Transnistria has no future. When someone says from the left bank that “we were not together...” - you and the Ukrainians were together, so do you want to go to Ukraine?
You need to choose, our dear Pridnestrovians. There will never be independence. There will be no status of a subject of the Russian Federation. But we will find a form for unification within a single state – a federal one. Let’s sit down and discuss this,” Dodon said.
“Most residents, I’m sure they want to legalize. They want to be able to be on the right bank, study abroad, and export their goods. And the situation is very close to a resolution,” says the Moldovan president.
Dodon connected attempts to defend the independence of Transnistria with the interests of the mafia, which is allegedly stealing Russian aid to the unrecognized republic.
Dodon called on Krasnoselsky to surrender the independence of Transnistria.
“I really hope that he will not succumb to the interests of those who are interested in Pridnestrovie remaining the same, in order to withdraw the money they receive for gas and other subsidies,” said the Moldovan leader.
