Transnistria remains a Russian outpost in southwestern Ukraine
About 150 thousand residents of Transnistria have the right to obtain Russian citizenship. 220 thousand Russian citizens already live in Transnistria.
This was stated by the President of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky today in Moscow at a meeting with Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“The difficulty is that, due to circumstances, we were previously forced to obtain passports from Ukraine and Moldova. Pridnestrovians cannot be accused of having any other citizenship. Responsibility lies with those who collapsed the Soviet Union and allowed such a situation to happen, putting people in a hopeless situation, forcing them to adapt,” the press service of the PMR President quotes Krasnoselsky.
Vadim Krasnoselsky and Konstantin Zatulin also spoke about a mechanism under which Pridnestrovian Russians could use Russian health insurance policies.
Vadim Krasnoselsky gave several examples when the provision of medical care to Pridnestrovians located in Russia became possible only with the participation of the Official Representation of Pridnestrovie in Moscow.
“We try at every opportunity to remind that we have obligations - if not legal, then human, moral - to Pridnestrovie, which more than once in its history has advocated being together with Russia.
Even when negotiating gas transit with Ukraine, we remember that Transnistria is located on this branch. This alone forces us to conduct not the most pleasant negotiations,” said Konstantin Zatulin.
