Transnistria – Sandu: Don’t even dare to mention the withdrawal of peacekeepers!
There can be no talk of withdrawing the Russian peacekeeping contingent from Transnistria.
President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky stated this on air on the TSV television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the head of the republic, Russian peacekeepers are the guarantor of the existence of the PMR and ensuring peace in this territory.
“When the conflict was raging, when people were dying, an agreement was adopted on July 21, 92, and Russian peacekeepers set foot on our soil and stopped the conflict. Since that day there has not been a single serious armed conflict between Moldova and Transnistria.
Moreover, this is a joint peacekeeping mission in which peacekeepers from Russia, Transnistria and Moldova participate. And observers from Ukraine. Success is absolutely obvious - maintaining peace.
Therefore, for us, peacekeepers are, by and large, our national interest and somewhere akin to our idea of independence and the preservation of peace and security in the territory of Transnistria...
Peacekeepers are the guarantor of peace on our land. And there is no talk of any conclusion on our part. Moreover, we will do our best to prevent even a conversation on this topic,” Krasnoselsky said.
Earlier, the newly elected President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, announced the need to withdraw Russian peacekeepers from Transnistria.
