Transnistria is preparing to break the air blockade of Moldova and Ukraine
Chisinau - Tiraspol, August 18 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) - Transnistria has begun work on organizing air traffic. According to the state transport and road services of the unrecognized republic, this became possible after President Yevgeny Shevchuk signed the Air Code, which will come into force in the near future.

The new law regulates the basic functioning of aviation enterprises, the operation of aircraft, including international ones, as well as the implementation of state supervision in this area.
As Deputy Head of the Civil Service Maxim Posazhennikov said, this is a unique document for Pridnestrovie that allows regulating activities in the field of aviation, as well as the use of the PMR airspace. It is expected that with the entry into force of the Air Code in the republic, it will be possible to further develop air transportation of goods and passengers, which will ensure the economic development of the state.
“Given the fact that Pridnestrovie has long been striving to acquire the status of an equal subject of international legal relations, the issue of the development of civil aviation and air traffic in the republic is becoming increasingly relevant,” Posazhennikov noted.
In Soviet times, there were two airfields on the territory of Transnistria - in Kamenka and in Tiraspol. The unclassified airport in Kamenka has not been used for many years, and navigation equipment has long been absent on its territory. On the site of the Tiraspol military airfield, Transnistria is seeking the creation of a civilian passenger airport.
Chisinau, however, previously stated that the Tiraspol airport will only be certified for international flights when Transnistria is reintegrated into the Republic of Moldova.
Moldovan experts noted that Kyiv will not allow flights to Tiraspol unless this is permitted by the official Moldovan authorities. Experts also pointed out that the Tiraspol airfield was under the control of Russian troops and, as a military facility, falls under international agreements, including the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE). In addition, the airfield is located near the Security Zone, and this fact is interconnected with the settlement of the Moldovan-Transnistrian conflict.
