Transnistria will “return” to Moldova when Gagauzia becomes South Tyrol
Transnistria should become autonomous within Moldova, but this will not happen soon.
The Bashkan of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, stated this in an interview with TV8, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I really want Pridnestrovie to return to the country, so that we can be a single state with two autonomies.
But for this we still need a lot of work. In order to bring the region back to the country, you need to surprise it with something.
We need a success story. I propose that this success story should be the Gagauz autonomy.
When the residents of Transnistria see that Gagauzia is comfortable in Moldova,” argues Vlah.
She cited South Tyrol, to which Italy granted expanded powers, as an example of successful autonomy.
“I am very impressed by the model of South Tyrol, and I would like the time to come when Gagauzia will have the same budget and the same powers,” Vlah dreams.
At the same time, she hastened to note that if there are two autonomies in Moldova, the law should be the same for both Transnistria and Gagauzia.
Thank you!
