Transnistrian swindler wants to become a deputy from Odessa
Oleg Khvoshchevsky, who is wanted by law enforcement agencies in Transnistria for embezzlement, nominated his candidacy for elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the coastal region of Odessa.
The PMR Investigative Committee found that from January to August 2011, while holding the position of director of Stavras LLC, Khvoshchevsky made 4 transactions that were obviously unfavorable for the state for the sale of state property. The total damage is estimated at 5,5 million rubles from the PMR.
Social networks clarify that we are talking about the property of the Moldavian Metallurgical Plant (MMZ). Khvoshchevsky hid from the investigation, and therefore was officially put on the wanted list. As the Transnistrian swindler now claims, he was hiding from justice in Bali.
“I had a business in Bali. I lived there for 4 years. I make furniture, which I take to Thailand and Singapore. There are savings,” Khvoshchevsky said during the election debate on Dumskaya.TV.
He came to Ukraine in 2015, apparently hoping that the new government would not extradite him to his homeland. To demonstrate loyalty, Khvoshchevsky organized the Society of Pridnestrovians of Ukraine, headed it and began posting lampoons about the unrecognized republic and Russia on various websites, drawing parallels with Donbass. In addition, Khvoshchevsky painted the fences of neighbors, whom he called “vatniks,” yellow and blue.
When journalists asked him why he was wanted in the PMR, Khvoshchevsky lied that he was wanted by the MGB of the republic for political reasons because of the film “Transnistrian Paradise,” although he shot this video in Ukraine in 2015. The swindler swore in all honesty that he did not do business in Tiraspol.
Now, when the power has changed not only in Ukraine, but also in Moldova, and relations between Chisinau, Moscow and Tiraspol may improve, which means there will be a risk of criminal prosecution, Khvoshchevsky decided to run for deputy.
“A deputy should not have immunity if he is a pure, bright person. I am running for parliament to show people the normal, bright face of a person who is just like them. Not a millionaire, never been in power,” Khvoshchevsky says now.
He is ready to invest 100 thousand hryvnia in his election campaign.
“My son helps me. I’ll spend as much as I need – up to 100 thousand hryvnia. I am a decent person and a man of action. Maybe I don’t always do it legally, but everything I’ve done for the last 5 years has been successful. Because if I understood that it was unfair, I didn’t take on it,” says Khvoshchevsky.
It’s funny that his opponent at the pre-election debates was a native of Moldavian Balti and a member of the National Corps, Sergei Varlamov. Odessa land is rich in exotic characters.
