The Transnistrian ruble is unshakable
The exchange rate approved by the Central Bank of Transnistria will remain until the end of the year.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank, Vladislav Tidva, who spoke at the Supreme Council of the Republic.
“This year we receive more foreign currency through foreign trade and transfers than in the past. Accordingly, the situation on the foreign exchange market is better. At the end of six months of 2019, demand in the foreign exchange market will be less than supply by $18–19 million. This is a decent margin of safety,” the ISPIRR website quotes Tidva.
According to him, rumors about a possible fall in the exchange rate of the Pridnestrovian ruble, spread on social networks, are unfounded.
“Yesterday, for example, banks bought a million dollars on the cash market. What does this mean? That there are no devaluation expectations, there is no fear of a significant weakening of the Transnistrian ruble exchange rate,” Tidvu said, emphasizing that the bank will keep the exchange rate within the limits set for this year.
