The Transnistrian issue can be resolved following the example of Ukraine - Pushkov
In conditions where the West offers nothing and is only increasing confrontation, diplomacy may be powerless.
Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media Alexey Pushkov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must understand perfectly well that in conditions when the West has made a choice in favor of confrontation with Russia, diplomacy has very limited possibilities. Therefore, without foreshadowing specific forms of solution to the crisis around Transnistria, I will say that, apparently, just like in Ukraine, it will be resolved as a result of changes in the balance of forces. Unfortunately, world politics is structured this way: the balance of forces decides everything,” the senator said.
“I mean not only military forces, but also political, economic, and informational ones. I mean the will of the people of Transnistria - this is a very important factor in the balance of forces, which, as you know, played a key role in the fate of Crimea. It is on these various platforms of the relationship of forces that the future of this region will be decided, and Russia will invariably support it,” Pushkov warned.
