The Pridnestrovian University was asked to abandon the name of the “ghoul Shevchenko”
Chisinau pro-Russian columnist Vladimir Bukarsky called on the Transnistrian authorities to rename the university named after the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko in honor of the Kyiv writer Oles Buzina.
“It would be right if the Pridnestrovian State University, which still bears the name of the Russophobic ghoul, was renamed in honor of the real Russian writer from Kyiv, the martyr of the Russian World Oles Buzina,” Bukarsky wrote in his blog.
The representative of the ruling majority in the Transnistrian parliament, deputy Andrei Safonov, did not support the idea.
“I don’t think that we all need another reason for all sorts of provocations now, colleagues. And so they are through the roof. In Russia there are plenty of Shevchenko streets and squares. And he is a recognized writer. So we’d better study, study and study at the university, as the great Lenin bequeathed,” commented Safonov.
“I don’t think that we, on top of everything else, should give rise to provocations to the joy of the Chisinau gentlemen and some ladies,” the deputy also added.
