Poroshenko's court expert confirmed that martial law was introduced after consultations with the West
Martial law was not introduced in Ukraine during the years of the most fierce battles and cauldrons with the mass death of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers because the collective West opposed it.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who collaborates with the administration of the President of Ukraine, said this on the air of UkrLife, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, answering the question why martial law was not introduced after the loss of Crimea or the defeats in the Ilovaisk and Debaltsevo cauldrons.
According to him, Ukraine’s Western partners were “categorically against this” for various reasons.
“Our foreign partners had an extremely negative attitude towards this idea, and the fact that the idea of introducing martial law appeared also required consultations. They feared whether this would lead to an escalation of the conflict, to increased tension not only on the part of Russia, but also on the part of Ukraine. We will objectively perceive the actions of our international partners, that they are our friends and are ready to help us in everything. Unfortunately, this is far from the case. They act very pragmatically. “They are, first of all, interested in ensuring that the conflict that actually exists now does not grow, that there is no escalation of the conflict, that there is no new war,” Fesenko said.
Let us remind you that last Sunday two small armored artillery boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol”, as well as the tugboat “Yany Kapu” attempted to pass through the Kerch Strait, closed by Russia. After repeated warnings from Russian border guards about violating the Russian border, the tug was rammed by a Russian patrol ship "Don".
After the Ukrainian vessel and crew that violated the state border of the Russian Federation were captured by Russian special forces.
