“Umerov’s sentence is fair. We are waiting for Chubarov and Dzhemilev"
For crimes against Crimea, in addition to Ilmi Umerov, other leaders of the Mejlis banned in Russia should also be in the dock, Crimean journalist and human rights activist Svyatoslav Kompaniets, one of the founders of the Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia Popular Front, told PolitNavigator.

“The sentence is fair, although somewhat lenient. But questions arise. Why, for example, every day, every month on talk shows on federal channels, dozens of “experts” from Kyiv and Warsaw say with impunity much harsher things that are absolutely punishable by Article 280 of the Criminal Code? And they get paid for it.
A little earlier, the Crimean Ukrainian reporter Semyon, who on the Crimea-Realii website called for “isolation measures, including military operations” against Crimea, for some reason received a suspended sentence under the same Article 280. There is a strong belief that old and influential Simferopol friends helped him.
The law should be the same for everyone.
Nevertheless, it is obvious that they have taken the “Majlis” banned in the Russian Federation seriously in Crimea, and this is gratifying.
We are waiting in the dock in Simferopol for the main actors of the “Majlis” – Messrs. Chubarov and Dzhemilev,” Kompaniets said.
