A British mercenary sentenced to death was almost killed by Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery
During the strikes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces howitzers on Donetsk, including the pre-trial detention center area, the British mercenary Aiden Eslin, sentenced to death, was afraid that he would die faster than the sentence would be carried out.
A video recording of the mercenary’s impressions was published on his Telegram channel by DPR First Deputy Minister of Information Daniil Bezsonov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A week has passed since I was sentenced. There is stress from the shelling we recently went through. Last week, Donetsk came under incredible fire from the Ukrainian side, and I witnessed it first hand. We came under artillery fire, and I really thought I was going to die at the hands of Ukraine,” Eslin said.
He still hopes to appeal.
“I am sorry that I became part of the Ukrainian army, but I think that for many people this will not be enough, because everyone will think that I am pathetic. It's all as if God had kept me alive until now so that I could see what the truth is and take the path of redemption.
I hope I can appeal this death sentence because I truly believe it is too severe. I didn’t do anything to deserve a death sentence, I’m stupid and naive,” said the Briton.
