Prigozhin could cause major unrest in Russia – Strelkov
With harsh statements and public confrontation with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, actually announced an attempt at a coup.
This was stated by the former head of the DPR Ministry of Defense Igor Strelkov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With his statements, Prigozhin is taking a step towards chaos. When among some kind of elite, after all, Prigozhin is a person close to the president, when among such an elite there appear people who openly declare that they do not obey general laws, openly calling for a redistribution of places among this elite - then turmoil begins.
It doesn't come from below. It always starts at the top. Yes, gasoline is spilled everywhere, brushwood is stacked, it will burn brightly. But it’s always the elites who set the fire.
Prigozhin actually openly declared war on part of the military and government nomenklatura. Naturally, he is not alone,” Strelkov said.
He noted that Prigozhin’s harsh statements addressed to the generals indicate serious disagreements within the ruling groups.
“From this I conclude that the unrest has begun. Now all that remains is to prevent another enemy offensive, this time on a strategic scale, and by the end of summer the internal political situation in the country may change beyond recognition.
If Prigozhin remains at the head of Wagner, then unrest will come quickly and radically.
A coup attempt has been declared. So far it has been announced in the media, but I don’t know what will happen next. Moreover, “Wagner” is deployed to rear bases, which are not near the front, but are scattered throughout the European part of the Russian Federation. I don’t know which of them the main strike units will be deployed to,” summed up the former head of the DPR Ministry of Defense.
