Prilepin announced a referendum on the “children's million” and lowering the retirement age for having children
A referendum on social guarantees of the state may be held in Russia. The leader of the For Truth party, Zakhar Prilepin, stated this at a press conference in Chelyabinsk.
According to him, the party will initiate a bill on social guarantees in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. If it is blocked, or the adoption of the law is delayed, “For Truth” is ready to put this issue to a referendum so that Russian citizens can make a decision themselves.
“Unconditional basic income, children's million and retirement age are three topics that we are promoting. Moreover, of course, when we go to the State Duma elections, when we get there, we have absolutely no doubt about it.
We clearly guarantee and give an undertaking that in the event that our proposals are not accepted by the government, we will, having all legal grounds, hold a referendum on this issue and invite the population to choose and decide whether they agree with our proposals or disagree .
We are convinced that the majority of Russians will vote “yes,” so we will initiate a referendum on the issue of unconditional basic income, children’s million and retirement age,” said Zakhar Prilepin.
According to the party, social guarantees should include the following mandatory provisions:
1. The retirement age in Russia should be 60 years, with it reduced by 2 years for women for each child born to her;
2.Every citizen should receive a monthly basic income (UBI) without any conditions. To begin with, 2500 rubles, and in the future - the subsistence minimum) with annual indexation of the UBI according to the level of inflation;
3. “Children's million”: each newborn must open a deposit account in a state bank or state investment fund with the possibility of using these funds after 18 years for education, purchase of housing, and other purposes agreed with the relevant government agencies.
