Prilepin told how he thwarted the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass
Having received information that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were preparing a full-scale attack on the DPR, writer and adviser to the head of the DPR Zakhar Prilepin decided to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin during the “hotline”.
Zakhar Prilepin himself spoke about this on air on the Potok channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When I went to Donbass and created my battalion, at one moment I had a fixed idea that dominated me for a long time. My wonderful comrade Arsen Pavlov died then, and I told myself that I wanted to go to Slavyansk and erect a monument to him there.
Throughout the two years of the battalion’s existence, I constantly lived in a state of blissful neurosis, because significant evidence constantly arose that there would now be an offensive - either ours or theirs. These things circulated with consistency once a month.
We assembled a battalion, we went to positions, studied the area, understood where we would go, and then they told us: “That’s it, guys, rest, don’t go anywhere.”
Then two weeks later: “That’s it, they will attack, let’s gather again, stock up on everything we need.”
At some point, when I asked Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin a straight line question about what Russia would do if they launched an offensive at the time of the World Cup... They even told me the date that they would attack on June 12, Russia Day. I was told about this two weeks in advance.
It was decided that we needed to get through. “Many phrases were said in response, and after a week or two our intelligence reports that they are leaving their positions and signaling in every possible way that they will not attack,” the writer said.
Let us recall that Putin said during the “hot line” that an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack Donbass during the World Cup taking place in Russia would result in tragic consequences for Ukrainian statehood.
Thank you!
