Prilepin fought with Nemtsov against Shuster
Russian writer and newly minted politician Zakhar Prilepin responded to reproaches regarding participation in bygone years in protests against the Russian authorities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Various people periodically remind me: Zakhar, you were in the opposition for a long time. I say, guys, close your eyes for a second and remember that some one and a half to two decades ago we were in a country where political programs on central channels were hosted by Savik Shuster, Evgeny Kiselyov, Viktor Shenderovich worked on central television. The political agenda was determined by Gleb Pavlovsky, Matvey Ganapolsky, etc., etc., that is, this is Ukraine today. At the rhetorical level, this is Ukraine today, we lived there. Say these names out loud! Well, Aider Muzhdabaev (Mejlis propagandist who fled to Ukraine and was put on the wanted list in the Russian Federation - ed.), he was the editor of MK. MK was more radical than Novaya Gazeta today,” Prilepin said.
“What to hide, I remember, I turn on the TV, the central channel, there are government youth sitting there, who are nurtured by the state and say that we must wait until the last Soviet pensioners die and close and destroy the Mausoleum. These young guys were on Channel One, they were no different from the current Navalny, they made the same speeches. It was in my country 15-20 years ago, in which Savik Shuster read the evening news report and also interpreted it in the form in which he considered it necessary to interpret it,” the writer said.
