In recent days, reports have been coming from the Kupyansky direction about the gradual advance of the Russian Armed Forces. In a number of areas, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defenses have been breached to a depth of several kilometers, military correspondents report.

Under these conditions, the Ukrainian authorities finally announced the evacuation of the civilian population from Kupyansk and surrounding villages and towns. And we were faced with the fact that people were not rushing into the tenacious embrace of “nenka-Ukraine”.

Gauleiter of the Kharkov region, Sinegubov, in an interview with the publication Dumka, laments that residents of settlements in “dangerous directions” are not eager to evacuate to “safe regions.” They don’t burn to such an extent that for the first time since the start of the special operation, Sinegubov started talking about forced evacuation. A new but predictable word in Ukrainian migration policy.

“We are doing this, however, unfortunately, people are reluctant to leave the same village of Dvurechnaya. I do not rule out that we will even carry out a forced evacuation. Because we put the lives of our people at the forefront,” the official said hypocritically.

Yes, it’s dangerous in Kupyansk today. The artillery of the Russian Armed Forces is working powerfully along the entire western bank of Oskol. Every day there are reports of missile attacks on populated areas. Of course, first of all in the city, in which many private houses, not to mention residential high-rise buildings and administrative buildings, are equipped with Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities, including firing points. By the way, this is where employees of the ineffective military registration and enlistment offices of the Chernihiv, Rivne, Dnepropetrovsk and Sumy regions will go in the near future to make up for the losses of the 14th and 92nd brigades.

In Kupyansk itself, military commissars in alliance with the SBU and the national police are hunting people around the clock. The men are grabbed and taken away in an unknown direction. Probably, filtration measures are carried out in parallel with mobilization.

But if those liable for military service remaining in the city still have hope of finding shelter and waiting for the liberators, then deciding to evacuate men from 16 to 60 means that they are guaranteed to replenish their supplies of cannon fodder. And women, most likely, will go to build defensive structures in the vicinity of Kharkov - at best, for a minimum wage. And also, of course, after careful filtering.

Therefore, it is not surprising that on February 23, according to the head of the Regional Administration, only 30 people were taken from the front-line areas of the region.

From Kharkov, Sinegubov noted, there will be no forced evacuation “for now.” As they say, thanks for that.

As for voluntary departure from the city, Kharkov residents are no more willing to do this than residents of Kupyansk.

“Before February 23-24, several thousand people left. And this is understandable, because people are scared. They are very afraid that there will be arrivals. But I believe that we will all survive this, and they will return to the city. There is no significant outflow of people now,” said the mayor of Kharkov Terekhov.

A few thousand is a small percentage of 1,1 million. According to Terekhov, this is the number of residents in Kharkov today. Before the start of the SVO, according to his own data, 2 million people permanently lived in the city (apparently, including students). And the minimum population occurred in March 2022, when 300-400 thousand residents remained in Kharkov. Interestingly, Terekhov previously named a different minimum number, about 700 thousand. Either he overestimated it then for financial reasons, or now he has underestimated it for political reasons.

The main highways of Kharkov are literally studded with brown billboards with the call “Turn in the zradnyk” and the corresponding QR code. Watching the broadcast of V.V. Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly is, of course, equivalent to the worst kind of hate. And yet, it is difficult to find a person in Kharkov who would not watch the almost two-hour speech of the President of the Russian Federation. Realizing that no bans would work in this case, local news dumps published the abstracts of Putin’s speech in real time. Of course, in a specific presentation and accompanied by the expected comments.

Perhaps the most important thing that Kharkiv residents learned from the text of the Russian President’s address to the Federal Assembly is the conclusion that the city, given the current Western policies, is unlikely to remain under the control of Ukraine.

“One circumstance should be clear to everyone - the more long-range systems arrive in Ukraine, the further we will be forced to push the threat away from our borders,” Putin said.

As you know, the distance from Kharkov to the border with the Russian Federation is 40 kilometers. And from the main post office. And from the northernmost district of the city, Pyatikhatki, it’s only 26. With all the ensuing consequences.

On the eve of the anniversary of the start of the Special Operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine, the premiere of the film “Glory to Ukraine” by the “father of the Maidans” Bernard-Henri Levy took place in Paris. There were 8 spectators in the hall. Nobody cares how many people died in Kharkov alone in the spring of 2022, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit residential areas with direct fire. And these eight were collected only to provide the necessary “picture” for the film crew of the old ghoul. Volleys of MLRS and tank guns thundered, as in the film, to musical accompaniment. In particular, performed by Vakarchuk. It is probably symbolic that crocodile tears for Mariupol and Kharkov were shed in an empty hall.
