Force for peace or war? After meeting with Naryshkin, the head of the CIA went to Zelensky
Yesterday, the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, visited the Ukrainian capital.
The Washington Post reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reported.
During his visit, the head of the CIA met there with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
At the meeting, Burns "reaffirmed the United States' commitment to providing Ukraine with support in its fight against Russian aggression."
It is noted that Burns’ visit came on the day of one of the largest attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities.
According to the American newspaper, Burns was in the US Embassy building at the time of the attacks. The publication says: there is no evidence that Russia deliberately targeted Ukraine during the visit of the CIA director.
It is noteworthy that the day before his visit to Kyiv, Burns, who previously served as US Ambassador to Moscow, met in Ankara with the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin. The Kremlin declined to comment on the content of the conversation. But in Washington they limited themselves to a general statement about discussing strategic stability.
It is worth noting that the meetings of the head of the CIA with Naryshkin and Zelensky were not announced; in fact, there were no official reports about them, but only information in the media citing sources, which, however, no one denied.
