The adoption of the law on “de-occupation of Donbass” was postponed until tomorrow - deputies went too far with the amendments
The Verkhovna Rada today failed to pass the scandalous law on the “de-occupation of Donbass,” which is officially called “on the peculiarities of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine over the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.” Despite the fact that today only this issue was considered on the agenda, parliamentarians did not have enough time during the morning and evening sessions to consider more than 600 amendments to the bill, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

However, today will be remembered for a number of extraordinary statements regarding the adoption of the law. Thus, the leader of the Popular Front faction, Maxim Burbak, said that the adopted law will help Ukraine sue Russia in international courts, obtaining reparations from it. At the same time, the votes of parliamentarians were not enough to introduce an amendment to the document recognizing the DPR and LPR as “terrorist organizations.”
However, the deputies nevertheless pushed into the bill a provision on the creation of filtration camps for citizens leaving the LPR and DPR for territory controlled by Ukraine.
The deputies also started a squabble over a statement by parliamentarian Taras Pastukh that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which are shooting the population of Donbass, are acting illegally and Ukraine could be brought to trial. And the secretary of the parliamentary defense committee, Ivan Vinnik, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, volunteers and foreign mercenaries are participating on the side of Ukraine “absolutely in the legislative field.”
However, the deputies were only able to consider 400-odd amendments and postponed the further process until tomorrow morning.
