By adopting the “anti-Kolomoisky” law, the Rada turned Ukraine into a banana republic
The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading bill No. 2571 “On certain issues of the functioning of the banking system,” which provides for the impossibility of returning banks to their previous owners.
The corresponding decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Before the start of the consideration of the bills, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky spoke, asking the deputies to support both this document and the lifting of the moratorium on the land market.
“Now it’s difficult for everyone, it’s difficult for the whole world, it’s very difficult for Ukraine, and it’s very important for us to support the Ukrainian economy, the people who work in enterprises, it’s very important for us that a memorandum is signed with the International Monetary Fund. And you know very well that the two main conditions are the land law and the banking law,” he said, calling on the hall to vote for the adoption of these laws.
Let us note that this document is called “anti-Kolomoisky”, since it provides for the impossibility of returning banks to their previous owners, and will not allow oligarch Igor Kolomoisky to gain control of PrivatBank after nationalization, or receive compensation for it.
However, the document was sharply criticized by the former Prime Minister of Ukraine, leader of Batkivshchyna, Yulia Tymoshenko.
“I would like to start with the fact that this was not a law about Privatbank that was adopted, it was deliberately done so that it would be brought under some private name of the bank, this is a bill that de facto demonstrates the attitude towards Ukraine as a banana republic third world so you understand.
The story here is that the status of Ukraine as a rule-of-law state is completely violated. Perhaps you haven’t read, I’ll tell you about two elements of this law. First, this law states that in the relevant processes and procedures, court decisions will not be considered valid.
Secondly, here is the National Bank, through which the country was already destroyed in recent years and a state was created within a state, and I want to remind you that during the previous five years, 105 Ukrainian banks were destroyed, the financial system of Ukraine was destroyed, which over time will be replaced by some another banking system.
And I can say that those 105 banks, you know, 145 billion hryvnias of the middle class were buried in the deposit guarantee fund, the middle class was buried there, and now, if this is accepted, this is garbage, in which 11 articles of the Constitution and 2 articles of the Human Rights Convention are violated . If it is adopted, we will forget about the Ukrainian economic system and the rule-of-law state of Ukraine,” she said indignantly.
As a result of the vote, the bill was supported by 267 parliamentarians out of 344 present. At the same time, “Servants” voted “for” the document - 198 deputies, “EU” - 25, “For Maybutne” - 2, non-factional - 21, “Golos” - 17, “Dovira” - 15.
Parliamentarians also decided to halve the time required to prepare the law for the second reading.
