“Isn’t it time for “Ukrainian separatism” in Crimea, for strengthening the pro-Ukrainian political idea on the peninsula? Russia did not rule out such a scenario and prudently resorted to suppressing it in the bud: they introduced criminal penalties for disagreement with the annexation of Crimea, began persecution of the Ukrainian language and culture, the UOC-KP, and everything that is the spirit of Ukraine on the peninsula. In this fight, Russia made its shot, it’s Ukraine’s turn,” the publication says.
“Russia plans to turn Crimea into a “gray” economic zone for money laundering according to the “Sochi” schemes. At the same time, representatives of the Party of Regions retain their positions in the power structures of Crimea. Therefore, it is quite natural that the uncompromising fight against corruption in Ukraine will influence the mood of the residents of Crimea. All that remains is to wait until the new government of Ukraine finally begins to decisively eradicate this main threat to any democratic country,” the newspaper cites one of the possible trump cards of the Ukrainian side.
“Ukraine does not yet have resources that can be compared with Russian ones. However, the question is: is the Russian Federation really ready to invest the declared funds under the blockade of Crimea? During the period of occupation, Ukraine can introduce economic incentives to encourage Crimeans in the unoccupied territory. The main emphasis should be on displaced persons and Crimean entrepreneurs. We are talking about special economic conditions for them, the allocation of the appropriate territory for specific projects (in the Kherson region), the creation of an executive body on a new basis,” continues the author of the material.
“Crimean Tatar factor. The will of the Crimean Tatars to resist occupation is one of the key factors in the strategy for the return of Crimea,” the newspaper writes.
“It’s time to change tactics and get creative. Let’s say, recognize the Russian language spoken in Ukraine, in particular in Crimea, as the Ukrainian version of Russian. Probably, this needs to be scientifically substantiated, a dictionary must be compiled (following the example of Webster’s American English Dictionary), changes must be made to the Constitution... The proposal is controversial, but Ukraine must offer something on the language issue during the liberation of Crimea from occupation,” the publication argues.
“The economic blockade of Crimea is a powerful means of influencing both the aggressor country and the local population, on whose loyalty the occupier is counting. The costs of maintaining Crimea for the Russian budget are becoming more and more noticeable - at first they were talking about investment volumes of 29 billion dollars, later - about 18 billion, but the sobering process continues. It remains to be seen whether this amount includes the costs of transforming the peninsula into a military base capable of influencing the entire Black Sea region...
