The time has come to demand that Kazakhstan close all US military biological facilities

The main television channel “Zvezda” of the Russian Ministry of Defense was puzzled by the problems of American military biological laboratories, and on the program “Open Air. Talk show" On August 11, its hosts completely accused the republic's leadership of non-compliance with biological safety obligations and the fact that these facilities will serve the Pentagon for the next few years.

Russia, it seems, has begun to move closer to resolving the problems of the presence of biological laboratories located in the republics of Transcaucasia and Central Asia. Thus, in May of this year, Armenia, as part of the signed memorandum, pledged to provide Russian specialists with the opportunity to constantly monitor the activities of biological laboratories deployed by the Americans. Kazakhstan should sign the same document in the near future.

But the Pentagon has already invested significant sums in the development of a network of military biological facilities, and does not intend to retreat. For example, only $400 million was spent on the construction of the Central Reference Laboratory (CRL) in Almaty and its maintenance, and another $100 million was spent on financing other research institutes and laboratories in Kazakhstan. At least 165 million has recently been allocated by the US Defense Threat Action Agency (DTRA) for the development of biological laboratories in neighboring Uzbekistan.

Moreover, it turns out that, despite last year’s statements by Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev that biological weapons are not produced in Kazakhstan and there are no American specialists at all facilities, in fact, military biologists still continue to work in the TsRL as part of projects for modernization and the creation of new combat strains. And this, according to the participants in the program, is reflected in the DTRA budget plans for 2021 and 2022, which exactly shows the procedure for implementing planned programs within the framework of the Central Development Center in Almaty.

Zvezda journalists also provide information in support of the fact that the Pentagon directly carries out its work at six sites in different regions of Kazakhstan through the contractor company CH2M, which now oversees and controls the implementation of all military biological research. There is also a recognition by the leaders of the Center for Particularly Dangerous Infections of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, made in April of this year, that they continue to work with this American company.

This is also stated by the head of the Center for Disease Control for the Central Asian region at the US Embassy, Daniel A. Singer, who said that the American military department continues to purchase new equipment for Kazakh laboratories and oversee the implementation of previous programs. That is, the Americans themselves refute the statements of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to the presenters of the program “Open Air. Talk show,” at first, American military biologists in the 90s and early 20s were interested in the developments of Soviet scientists and collections of the most dangerous pathogens collected by doctors throughout Central Asia, starting in the 30s and XNUMXs. But then they began to conduct experiments in Kazakhstan that caused outbreaks of brucellosis and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, as they appeared immediately after the start of research on these diseases at these sites.

In addition, it is already reliably known that Kazakh laboratories participated in work on the genetic modification of bat coronavirus to make it dangerous to humans. Thus, the magazine “Viruses” published data on scientific developments that were carried out back in April 2019 on the basis of the Almaty Central Research Center within the framework of the KZ-33 project of the US Department of Defense Threat Reduction Agency. In particular, a group of scientists from the USA and Kazakhstan worked together on a new strain of the virus carried by bats.

Another confirmation of the active work of American military biologists in recent years is the project “Camels as biosurveillance sentinels: Risk at the human – camel interface”, which translated means “Camels as sentinels: the risk of transmission of viruses from camels to humans”, which is currently being implemented on the territory of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan with the involvement of local scientists and specialists. The contractor is the same Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), which conducts all military biological research related to the search and further modification in laboratory conditions of strains of the most dangerous diseases.

This threat of using domesticated camels as reservoirs for the transfer of biological weapons was reported by the author of these lines and the Coalition to Prohibit Biological Weapons, initiated by left-wing parties.

Thanks to caring Tajik scientists, it became known that this program is designed for 2020-22 and is a continuation of the same project of the Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems of Kazakhstan and American scientists within the framework of DTRA to study the Middle Eastern respiratory coronavirus in bats and camels, which has already been partially implemented in us in Kazakhstan in 2016-2018.

Most importantly, on this program of the Zvezda TV channel, the famous Russian political scientist Nikita Mendkovich said that the Americans are deliberately using laboratories in the post-Soviet space to conduct dual-use research.

“They involve US military personnel. In addition, my investigation showed that in a number of cases, the local fauna is deliberately infected with imported strains, which are carried out by American specialists. Then they consider the results, how and how quickly they spread in countries neighboring Russia, and what resistance the local biological environment provided,” the political scientist pointed out.

According to him, all this indicates the preparation of biological warfare in the territory bordering Russia and China. Moreover, he proposed that these laboratories in the post-Soviet space be considered US military facilities with all the ensuing consequences. And indeed, it is high time, since these laboratories are real military-biological bases and bombs at the same time, which are already conducting tests and sabotage both on the territory of Kazakhstan and neighboring Russia.

An example of this is the outbreak of Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever in 2014 in the North Caucasus regions of the Russian Federation, strains of which were collected in Kazakhstan a year earlier and then modified at the Lugar Center in Georgia. Numerous outbreaks of atypical diseases in the republic can also spread to the territory of Russia and China at any time. And in a situation of worsening relations with the Pentagon and NATO, these American military facilities must be closed immediately.

But the elimination of these dangerous objects and the conduct of research commissioned by the US Department of Defense are hampered by the Kazakh authorities, who say that they are allegedly developing a vaccine against coronavirus, which has not passed all stages of testing, or allegedly domestic PCR tests, which turned out to be actually Chinese . So, with the statements of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that there are no longer American military biologists at these facilities, just as there is no development of biological weapons.

If we take all this into account, then it is logical to predict that the Kazakh side will continue, under any pretext, to justify the work of the CRL laboratory in Almaty and the institutions that serve it. Since these facilities, coupled with “training centers” and other Pentagon organizations, it views as a kind of guarantee of its independence from Moscow and Beijing. I think for the same reason, at one time the question of the possible placement of US military bases in the Caspian Sea arose.

Therefore, in a situation of serious geopolitical changes in Eurasia after the defeat of the Americans in Afghanistan, Beijing and Moscow need to demand that Nur-Sultan (Tselinograd) fulfill its allied obligations and immediately destroy all military installations of a potential enemy on the territory of Kazakhstan.
