Pristina announced recruitment for the future “Kosovo Army”
The so-called “Kosovo Ministry of Defense” announced that it will begin recruiting recruits for the “Kosovo Security Forces” from August 10 to 21, which are planned to be transformed into a full-fledged army.
Before the start of the action, the separatist department launched a propaganda video demonstrating that recruits would be trained according to NATO standards.
The information from the “Ministry of Defense of Kosovo” states that recruitment will take place on a competitive basis; young people from 18 to 23 years old “regardless of gender and ethnicity” are invited to serve. Recruits are required to be in good health, have no criminal history or deportations from other states, have tattoos in prominent places and piercings, and have completed secondary education. Considering the low standard of living in Kosovo (according to a number of studies, the lowest in Europe), it can be assumed that the competition for the armed forces of the separatists will be great.
The propaganda video is structured in such a way that it becomes obvious that young people will be taught according to NATO standards. And even the scene where the soldiers plant the Kosovo flag copies the famous photo of American soldiers planting the US flag over Iwo Jima, Japan in February 1945.
Let us remind you that the “president” of the region, Hashim Thaci, announced recruitment into the future “army of Kosovo” at the end of July this year. According to amendments to the “Law on Changing the Mandate of the Kosovo Security Forces” approved in December 2018 by the Assembly of Kosovo, the process of transforming these units into an army should take a decade and will cost Pristina from 55 million euros per year at first to 100 million euros per year after six years. In the meantime, weapons are being actively supplied to the Kosovo Security Forces USA и Germany.
It should be noted that Kosovo, as well as the American and European curators of the separatist project, act in violation UN Security Council Resolution 1244, according to which only peacekeeper units are allowed into the territory of the region from the armed forces, and all separatist formations must be disarmed. At the same time, Haci also stated that in the future the “Kosovo Army” will become conscript, which, according to a number of analysts, will only contribute to the exodus of Serbs from the region, since local Serbian youth will face a dilemma: either serve in separatist units, or go to prison for evasion from the call.
