Former Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishchenko stated this on air on the Kyiv Channel 5.

“According to the very foundations of international law, they are not separated by territories. The people who have the right to self-determination are separated. The Russian people, the Russians have self-determined in the Russian Federation. And simply annexing a territory cannot be a sign of self-determination,” the expert believes.

“If we even look at Kosovo, Kosovo remains unrecognized by Ukraine, and, I hope, will not be recognized - an independent country. Albania did not annex Kosovo, although mostly Albanians live there. Thus, we are talking about an emergency, an unprecedented step by the Russian Federation,” stated Konstantin Grishchenko.
