“Recognized our strength”: the successor of the late Makei gets involved with the Zmagars
Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Aleinik shook hands with Franak Vyachorka, an adviser to the self-proclaimed “President of Belarus” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, after running into him in the corridors of the UN.
Vyachorka himself stated this in an interview with Euroradio, a PolitnNavigator correspondent reports.
“There was a situation that was strange and unexpected for me, when Aleynik came out in the corridors of the headquarters, came up to me, looked at me, shook my hand and said: good afternoon. He, of course, drove me into a stupor, because last year the Makei delegation ran away from us. This time they came up on their own. There was no conversation. It was just a greeting. And then they left,” Vyachorka said.
He promised the next time he encountered Aleinik, to present him with ultimatum demands for the release of political prisoners.
“That’s all the communication we had. It is clear that they are working for enemy forces, for Lukashenko. There is no expectation that they will be able to be won over to the side of free Belarus. But I think they recognize us as opponents. Our task is simply to defeat them. There was no opportunity for a more detailed conversation, but when it appears, we have a list of questions that we want to ask and demands that we want to convey,” Vyachorka said.
Sergei Aleynik took over as minister after the sudden death of Vladimir Makei, who was considered pro-Western.
