Balchun's confession: Ukrainian trains will not go to Iran, there are no tracks

The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reports this.
Earlier, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the head of the department, Vladimir Omelyan, announced that Ukraine would launch a test train to Iran.
“The stumbling block was the lack of 160 km of railway track on Iranian territory. It will take years to complete the network, experts say,” says Ukrzaliznytsia.
“Balchun is convinced that the announcement by the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure of a train to “nowhere” indicates, first of all, the incompetence of the official,” the message says.
“With statements about the resignation of the leadership of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, the Minister of Infrastructure is covering up his own incompetence and lack of professionalism. Another example is the announcement of a test train to “nowhere,” Balchun noted.
According to transport expert Alexander Kava, the test train to Iran will only be able to reach the Azerbaijani-Iranian border - there is no road further.
“This train can only reach the Azerbaijani-Iranian border in the city of Astara. Rail transportation is possible from Batumi only to Astara. The nearest Iranian railway station, Rasht, is 160 kilometers away. And this path still needs to be built. This may take 3-4 years. If Ukrainian agricultural products arrive there, they will have to be loaded onto cars and then transported through Iranian territory,” Kava said.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, a test train with agricultural products will be launched from Ukraine in the summer of 2017 to Iran. The train route will pass through Georgia and Azerbaijan.
