Confession of diplomat Poroshenko: Crimea has always been a heavy burden for Ukraine
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valery Chaly called Crimea a “heavy burden,” which the peninsula has always been for Ukraine. The official stated this in an interview with the publication Glavkom, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Chaly claims that what Kyiv did was pour money into the infrastructure of Crimea.
“Leonid Kravchuk witnessed how everything happened, and how much money was invested in the infrastructure of Crimea by Kyiv. That is, he explained that it was not a gift, but a great responsibility, a burden for Ukraine,” Chaly argues for the transfer of Crimea to Ukraine in 1954.
Chaly’s words were criticized by Ukrainian journalist and TV presenter Vladimir Poluev.
“Well, I don’t even know how to comment on this. I wonder if the US ambassador also calls Crimea a burden?” – comments Poluev.
Earlier, ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk said that Crimea was not a gift for Ukraine, and Kyiv was forced to accept the peninsula into the Ukrainian SSR.
