The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine is the European Union minimizing the risk of Russian gas supplies.
The former head of the information department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Voloshin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, noting that the EU recognizes the fact of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“Accordingly, Ukraine and Russia, by definition, cannot be partners in matters of gas transit to Europe,” Voloshin emphasized. – And this position has been accepted for execution and is being implemented, including through Nord Stream. It is normal business logic to reduce risks. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine creates, by definition, a colossal risk for the reliability of gas supplies. And again, there is no argument against this.”
