Confession of a Maidan activist: Everything turned into poverty and outflow of population
While the last things are being taken away from Ukrainian mines, and the majority of the population is either below the poverty line or has left the country, Kyiv grant-eaters are reporting abroad about supposedly successfully carried out reforms.
Mikhail Volynets, an active Euromaidan participant and head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For now, the mines are being robbed, and at the same time, grant eaters and foreign coordinators report that Ukraine has the best reforms in the energy sector, the best successes in reforming social issues, and are also proud of the fact that there are very big positive changes in labor legislation. But we see these changes: people are leaving Ukraine en masse, going to Western European countries and beyond, because wages are higher there. Unfortunately, people leave their families, and these are negative consequences, because our economy cannot develop without labor resources,” Volynets complained.
“At least 60 percent of the population of Ukraine is below the poverty line. This cannot be the case when a husband and wife work in a family, young people with one or two children and are below the poverty line. This cannot be the case when a person with fifty years of experience is unable to pay for utility bills or is forced to starve, because he is forced to spend 50 percent on food, and 50 or more on utility bills. This is one of the issues we need to pay attention to. Reforms for the sake of declaration are not reforms,” laments the Maidan activist.
