Recognition on Kiev TV: ships of the Ukrainian fleet still remember Brezhnev
Over the past four years, nothing has been done for the Ukrainian Navy except loud statements on Fleet Day and other holidays.
The head of the Ukrainian Military Center Taras Chmut stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “First National”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With the introduction of martial law, nothing will change significantly for the Ukrainian Navy. Martial law will not give us new ships, will not give us anti-ship weapons, will not give us anti-submarine aircraft, etc. The number of personnel will increase due to mobilization. Today we are practically unable to carry out a single complex mission at sea, our forces are completely fragmented, we do not have anti-ship weapons, we do not have adequate anti-submarine weapons. Existing watercraft need either repair or decommissioning.
In four years we have received all new tanks, two of which have already been lost. For four years, Ukraine has done nothing to develop the Navy. In addition to loud political statements on Navy Day and other holidays. The Navy goes to sea. But what happens? One flagship that needs repairs and modernization, which should have started last year and did not start, one missile boat “Priluki”, which does not have anti-ship missiles, a ship that is already about 40 years old, a raid ship “Genichesk”, which is 23 years old, if I'm not mistaken, up to a dozen small boats and support vessels. What do we want these vessels to do, what tasks to complete?” Chmut said.
