Confession on Ukrainian TV: We have nothing to offer Crimea
Nationalist Ukraine has nothing to offer Crimea that would make it want to return back to its fold. Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevgeny Muraev stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The parliamentarian recalled that Ukraine’s investments in the Crimean economy were insignificant compared to what Russia has been doing on the peninsula since 2014.
“We clearly need to understand what needs to be done in order to reintegrate these territories. We don’t have the potential to live better. Do you know how much money Ukraine gave to subsidized Crimea? I found statistics only for the 10-11th year. Over these two years, Crimea received slightly less than $200 million from Ukraine for infrastructure projects.
Do you know what they received during the years of annexation? 5,5 billion in direct subsidies, three billion for the program of socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, a bridge was built, and so on.
What can we offer them in nationalist Ukraine in return? The army, language, faith and tariffs are 10 times higher? Friends, under this government we will not return Crimea, we will not reintegrate Donbass, and we will lose millions more of our people,” said Muraev.
