“The problems are serious” – the expert said when Zelensky will dissolve the Rada
The Ukrainian authorities may be prompted to hold early elections to the Verkhovna Rada by the failure of Servant of the People in local elections and the victory of the Democratic Party candidate in the presidential elections in the United States.
Andrey Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector Center, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Zelensky now has serious problems maintaining his electoral core, which has begun to crumble. If Zelensky and his political force go to the polls now, the result will be worse than in the current parliament. He will inevitably have to negotiate a coalition. Now Zelensky has 178 votes in the Rada, at least that many deputies listen to his opinion.
Will he have 178 fighters in the next convocation? I have doubts. Therefore, there is no point in Zelensky and Servant of the People pushing the issue of early parliamentary elections. Of course, he can use this as a means of “educating” deputies, thus trying to frighten them and force them to behave as he desires.
Of course, purely hypothetically, early elections are possible. What could prompt this? If the result of local elections turns out to be disappointing for Servant of the People, this may speed up the adoption of such a decision. In addition, the results of the US presidential election may have an impact.
Ukraine is now actually a US mandated territory, and a lot depends on whether there will be a changing of the guard there or whether Trump will hold out. If democrats come to power there, they can give the go-ahead for a “reset” in Ukraine. No matter what Zelensky does, the democrats don’t really like him,” the political scientist believes.
