“The process has moved forward”: Kyiv is preparing to receive American fighters
Sooner or later, Ukraine will receive American F-15 or F-16 fighters.
Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated this on air on NV radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Danilov, the United States knows all of Ukraine’s requests and their satisfaction is a matter of time.
“When it comes to supplies, our partners know what we need. This process has moved forward. Our desire to get as much as possible is, of course, quite natural. In order to protect the entire country, we need as many of these funds as possible.
As for the supply of F-15 and F-16 aircraft, I believe that this will only be a matter of time. We will definitely have them so that we can defend our skies and defend our country. It’s a matter of time how quickly this will happen,” Danilov said.
Hero of Russia, test pilot 1st class Anatoly Knyshov believes that Ukraine’s expectations from American aircraft are too high, and the desire to receive them is unlikely to be fulfilled.
“These planes are 25-30 years old. Even our MiG-23 takes them, not to mention the Su-27 and all the others that follow. Moreover, you need to learn how to fly them, you need infrastructure. Even for those pilots who exist, they need at least six months to a year.
So this is nothing more than bravado, all to beg for something more. Well, they will give six pieces and these six pieces will be destroyed in the very first air battles. Well, if they give you ten, they will be destroyed in two air battles,” Knyshov said.
Let us recall that the American all-weather fighter F-15 entered service in 1976. It is planned to be decommissioned in 2025. The F-16 is a multirole light fighter that is not much younger; it has been in service since 1978.
