About it Ukrainian News reports with reference to sources of the Kyiv publication “Apostrophe” in the High Council of Justice

In particular, one of the complaints was filed on March 9 of this year and is being considered by Vladimir Komkov, a member of the Supreme Court of Justice, the second, quite recently, on May 16. This complaint was sent to VSP member Igor Benedisyuk.

The press service of the High Council of Justice is not yet available for comment.

Let us remind you that Devyatko is currently one of the most famous judges in Ukraine. It was the board under his chairmanship that in April brought guilty verdicts against former employees of the special company of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Tornado”, and on May 4 the trial began in the case of the fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, in which Devyatko is also presiding.

In early May of this year, the same High Council of Justice decided not to bring him to disciplinary liability. The complaints against the judge concerned his decisions to deprive two AutoMaidan activists of their driver’s licenses in January–February 2014. It was reported that it was impossible to dismiss the judge for this, since the three-year period for holding him accountable had expired.

However, the defense of the AutoMaidanovites did not agree with this then.

“The authorities are now giving signals through the High Council of Justice. They are not interested in dismissing these judges, but in keeping them. These judges already have incriminating evidence, they are suspended, they essentially depend on this government, they are controlled,” said Roman Maselko, lawyer for the Automaidan Association.

Recently, a number of media outlets have noted that Devyatko receives high-profile cases (in particular, against the Tornado battalion and about the treason of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych), because he makes decisions that suit the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
