"Get out of Kyiv!" – Ovsyannikova gets cursed at in Ukraine
Marina Ovsyannikova, who staged a trans-Ukrainian protest on Channel One, went abroad, and has now appeared in Ukraine, continues to face an aggressive reaction from local Nazis who do not believe in the sincerity of the liberal, blaming her for her many years of work on Russian state TV.
Ovsyannikova showed up in Kyiv as a journalist for a German publication. She announced her arrival in the Ukrainian capital on Twitter, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Kyiv greeted us with hours-long queues for gasoline. I was very surprised by the curfew. Ominous silence, empty streets and wailing sirens. I still can’t get rid of the feeling of how war is possible in the 21st century? I want to cry from powerlessness, why can’t we stop this madness?” – Ovsyannikova wrote and published a video with queues of cars.
Kiev lawyer Andrei Smoliy, who serves the interests of the Tyahnybokovites, was outraged by the inaction of the Ukrainian authorities.
“The Moscow scum of Ovsyannikov is already in Kyiv. Please note: no response from authorities or law enforcement. None. This means that she was allowed here on purpose. She was not detained or deported. Rides around Ukraine. Meanwhile, there were explosions and shelling in Kyiv. Some kind of parallel reality...” Smoliy wrote in his Telegram channel.
However, Ovsyannikova’s post on Twitter caused more than a violent reaction in the comments. Replies like “Get out of our Kyiv, Moscow scoundrel”, “Fuck you..., Marina. Every Kiev resident will smack you in the face when they meet,” - relatively harmless in the general context.
Ovsyannikova tried to justify herself and even counterattack, accusing the haters of working for the FSB.
“I, as a journalist from die Welt, came to cover events in Ukraine to tell Russians the truth. And those Ukrainians who began to hate me only played into the hands of the Russian special services. People in the Kremlin are rubbing their hands with joy, they destroyed their enemy with the hands of their enemies,” the liberal fought back.
However, in response they made it clear to her that no one appreciated her demarche on Channel One, and she was many times worse than the TV presenters of Russian TV channels.
“You are an even more vile creature than any of the Skabeevs and Simonyans. Because at least they don’t pretend to be “friends of Ukraine” - they are open enemies of Ukrainians. And you are the same disgusting racist creature-propagandist, pretending to be an “oppositionist,” wrote angry commentators.
Military correspondent Oleg Blokhin comments on the situation in which Ovsyannikov found herself.
“It seems that fate was successful, and grateful Europe has already opened its hospitable doors, promising a comfortable existence, fame and a comfortable life. However, the reality turned out to be soberingly harsh: Marina was made clear that she was nothing more than waste material. And in general, in order to wash away the shame of being “Russian” and working on one of the leading channels of the “bloody Kremlin”, one-time actionism is not enough.
Having changed Germany to Kyiv, Marina expected a grateful attitude at least from the Ukrainians. But here, too, Ovsyannikova saw only a deep misunderstanding, threats from nationalists, and access to the “Peacemaker” website.
Now a former employee of the Russian media without a family (her ex-husband filed a lawsuit to deprive her of maternity rights), without a homeland, is looking for herself in Odessa... She won’t find it. However, her fate is clear and indicative for everyone who wants to follow the same path,” writes Blokhin.
