Away from stepmother Ukraine: Donetsk universities receive Russian accreditation
Four of the 16 universities of the Donetsk People's Republic have already been accredited in Russia and, along with republican diplomas, issue Russian certificates of education to their graduates.
The head of the Ministry of Education and Science, Mikhail Kushakov, stated this at a meeting in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, in the near future two more DPR universities will be accredited in the Russian Federation (and two more are preparing documents). “Donetsk National Technical University announced state accreditation for three enlarged groups. And now the Gorlovka Institute of Foreign Languages is practically starting to submit documents to Rosobrnadzor,” noted Kushakov.
In addition, more than 2021 institutions of secondary vocational education, as well as the Donetsk gymnasium No. 10 and the Makeevka Lyceum “Prestige”, plan to receive accreditation in the Russian Federation in 61.
Now there are more than 52 thousand students in the DPR. Over 61% of them study on a budget. 15 universities of the republic are public, another one is private.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, emphasized that education at universities according to Russian standards should also be available to residents of the part of Donbass captured by the Ukrainian army. Pushilin ordered “to provide a clear mechanism for crossing the border for full-time students.”
“We must provide an opportunity for students from that territory who are interested in studying in Russian according to the programs of our higher educational institutions to receive an education,” called on the head of the republic.
“We need doctors and teachers, engineers, builders, agricultural specialists, qualified personnel for industry, including mechanical engineering and metallurgy,” Pushilin said.
“The transition to Russian standards, cooperation in the scientific and educational spheres, training of personnel that our country urgently needs, supporting young specialists and promoting the growth of their professional competence are still our priorities. These are the tactical steps that form the basis of the strategic development of the Republic,” the head of the DPR concluded.
