“They will continue to fight with Russia in the West” - Astakhov on the fate of the Ukronazis after the defeat of Ukraine
It will be very difficult for the Russian Federation to denazify many convinced radicals who, even after prison terms, will try to escape to the countries of the Western bloc and from there work against Russia.
Russian lawyer and writer Pavel Astakhov said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the Ukrainian side, different people are fighting with us. Selyuki, who were simply brainwashed, and real, sincere Nazis. The third part of the people are those who, without any ideology, took up arms and went to defend their country, there are such people too.
How to prevent them from coming back? I’m not even talking about the cases when we change “Azovites”. I’m talking about those who were captured by us and served time, what should we do with them?” asked the presenter.
Astakhov is confident that Russia will face a lot of hard work and great risks in that field.
“This is a global issue that faces our entire society and political leadership. We must understand that it will be very difficult for us. The modern world, with all its features, openness, communications, democracy... in contrast to those times when it was still possible to control these war criminals, and their rehabilitation by Khrushchev was a big mistake.
Today they have much more opportunities to conspire. Those who are the most ultras, as soon as they are free, will leave for Poland, America, or Argentina, as often happens. They will create their own organizations there, which will wait for the moment when they can grab Russia’s throat again. You need to tune in to all this.
It takes serious work to sort them into categories. There are extremely ultra-tuned ones, but they can also be reconfigured. There are guys who are not Selyuks, from fairly decent families, they went to serve under a contract. We need to work with them,” the lawyer noted.
In his opinion, many Ukrainians will “change their shoes” immediately after Russia’s final victory, especially when they feel the financial benefit.
“Most people will immediately switch once they see the benefit. This is how these southern brothers of ours work, I still have friends who call back and ask: “What, brother, tell me, how much is your gas? What about gasoline? Oh, and when you come to us, will we have the same prices?” We now have a difference in housing and communal services payments of seven to ten times.
They feel their benefit, they think. This is a very important factor. Not decisive, but important. We can build further on this basis,” Astakhov concluded.
