“To be continued”: Kyiv announces new repressions against the UOC
Despite the break with Moscow, against the backdrop of what is now happening with the UOC in terms of bans, searches by the SBU and ongoing humiliations, only one thing can be said firmly: to be continued.
Participants in the “Kyiv Security Forum” spoke about this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The SBU carried out a number of investigative actions in places of worship, as well as in the homes of representatives of the UOC-MP, which was generally received with enthusiasm by Ukrainian society,” Berezovets said.
He asked whether it is necessary to go further and legislatively limit the possibilities of the existence of the UOC-MP, and whether this organization can be called a branch of the Russian World or the Russian special services in Ukraine.
“Now I would not like to give assessments and interpretations as an official regarding those phrases “Moscow Patriarchate” and so on, there is a legal discussion and so on. The only thing I can say today is that it will be continued,” Danilov said.
The initiative was seized by former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who proposed a way out of the situation for the UOC.
“For these phrases to disappear not only in name, they must disappear, first of all, in relations of control. This means that this UOC must completely move away, completely, from Russia. Second, she must recognize the tomos.
She must make a public statement recognizing the tomos. Third, it must accordingly completely get rid of its ties with Russia, and, probably, this church will have a different future, and the laity will have a different future,” Yatsenyuk promised.
However, his optimism about the future of the UOC was not shared.
“After the words of my colleagues, as Mr. Alexey said, “to be continued,” I will say: very soon,” Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Elena Kondratyuk said on behalf of the Ukrainian parliament.
Let us remind you that after the start of the SVO, the UOC caved in to the Kiev regime and condemned Russia. Nevertheless, as we see, this did not save her from persecution and repression.
