Products in Ukraine are becoming more expensive faster than predicted
The rise in food prices in Ukraine is outpacing the inflation included in the official forecast.

Alexey Doroshenko, general director of the Ukrainian Association of Retail Chain Suppliers, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Even this 9% included in the inflation forecast suggests that, most likely, we will see a more serious rise in prices. I would like to be optimistic, but at the beginning of the year there are no such grounds. We, the association of retail chain suppliers, said that based on the results of the first two months, inflation will be about 4%. At the same time, in certain periods of January we saw an increase in the price of cabbage by as much as 50%. At the end of the month, the wholesale price increased by 33%, but such delayed price fluctuations will continue to occur. Cabbage and onions will be followed by other products. In addition, the price of bread is rising. All this pushes inflation higher. If in the first two months alone we get food inflation of at least 4%, then how does the Cabinet of Ministers want to keep inflation at 9% for the whole year?” he said.
