Products in Crimea are becoming more expensive at an accelerated pace
In Crimea, food prices rose the fastest in 2018, and services showed the sharpest short-term growth in July.
This is evidenced by the results of statistical monitoring of consumer prices in the Republic of Crimea for 2018 and January - March 2019, conducted by the Office of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
If the general consumer price index was 105,5%, then the food price index was 106,7%. The price index for services at the end of the year was slightly lower than the general index - 105,3%, but from July to September it even exceeded the price index for food products. The prices for non-food products increased the least over the year – 103,6%.
“Food products and services were most susceptible to seasonal fluctuations. Changes in utility tariffs are either the beginning of the year or the middle of the year. In July, we see an increase in consumer services by 4,2%. Starting in January (2019), we have seen a large increase in food prices,” commented Natalya Grigor, Deputy Head of the Office of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
