The relevant parliamentary committee approved the law on Russian-language education in the DPR
A meeting of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture was held in the People's Council of the DPR, at which parliamentarians discussed a bill on the use of the state language in educational activities, previously proposed Head of the Republic Denis Pushilin.
This is reported on the official website parliament of the DPR, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Earlier, Denis Pushilin made a proposal to amend Article 10 of the DPR Constitution, defining the status of the Russian language as the only state language.
In addition, changes were announced to the DPR Law “On Education” regarding the definition of the language of education. This is due to the intensive integration of the Donetsk People's Republic with the Russian Federation.
Today we reviewed the bill introduced by the head of our state, as well as the conclusions of a number of departments on it. I would like to note the positive response to the proposed changes.
It stipulates that educational activities in educational organizations will be carried out in the state language of the DPR.
At the same time, it remains possible for citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic to receive preschool, primary general and basic general education in their native language based on the wishes of parents or legal representatives of minor students,” said committee chairman Natalya Volkova.
Let us recall that the previously famous Russian journalist and military correspondent Andrei Babitsky commented on this initiative, noting that the law proposed by Denis Pushilin does not carry political overtones and dictated by the realities of life in a young state.
