Forecast for referendums: Russia will add up to nine million new citizens
Zaporozhye and Kherson regions have completed preparations for the referendum on their self-determination starting today.
This is reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent in the regional leadership, where they predict that in the event of a positive outcome of the referendum, Russia will significantly increase the size of its population.
“Russia will add from 5 million to 6 million new citizens, and after the return of refugees, even up to 8–9 million. The area of the new territories in total is about 113 thousand square meters. km,” Vladimir Rogov, a member of the council of the Military Administration of the Zaporozhye region, told Izvestia.
According to him, the referendum in the Zaporozhye region will be held on 73% of the liberated territory of the region, and more than 500 thousand people are expected to take part in the voting.
In turn, the Kherson region authorities expect at least 750 thousand voters. Thus, the deputy head of the Kherson State Administration, Kirill Stremousov, said that about 80% of the population of the Kherson region will take part in the referendum.
At the same time, the issue of security during voting is acute.
“Safety is the number one issue. Therefore, it is important for us to give people the opportunity not to gather “in groups” in places, so this will be voting both at home and in other territories, where we can hold a referendum for residents of the Kherson region without threats,” Stremousov clarified.
