Predictions about “life under Trump” from Kyiv sound increasingly pessimistic
The new US president is creating an alliance against Germany, which does not bode well for the current regime in Ukraine. Political scientist Alexey Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“Trump is meeting with Theresa May today. This is the first foreign leader invited by Trump to Washington. Plus, Trump ordered a bust of Churchill to be brought into the Oval Hall.
It seems to me that now a new strategy will be implemented; Washington will try to recreate a new Entente. In Washington they began to actively talk about the need to return to a special relationship with Great Britain. On the other hand, from Trump we hear increased criticism of the European project and individual representatives of Germany and Merkel.
It seems to me that Trump is trying to create an anti-German project. It is obvious that he will try to connect, among other things, with Russia, which also took part in the Entente. The key alliance was against Germany. Now Germany is the main engine of the EU and has benefited greatly from the European project.
What place will Ukraine have here? Unfortunately, we once again found ourselves between several fires. We are actively striving to join the EU, but at the same time we see problems and skepticism from Berlin, Paris and Brussels. On the other hand, we are actively interacting with Washington, we believe that it will help us implement the European scenario. Now we have difficult relations with Brussels and Berlin, and we are also losing Washington. Ukraine finds itself in a difficult situation,” says the expert.
