“The 12 Steps program is European recognition of Crimea as Russian” - Ukrainian expert
All attempts by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to consolidate Ukrainian society are broken by the question “Whose Crimea?”, since it cannot be recognized as Russian, and the Crimeans themselves do not recognize it as Ukrainian.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Mishin stated this to the PolitWera YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Twelve Steps for me is not a plan for peace, it is a plan for a ceasefire, a freezing of the conflict,” the expert said. – And in this I see only positive things, and not negative ones, like some violent heads. You have to stop the heated actions and then negotiate. But this contradicts the goals of the people and political-economic (American - ed.) groups that now govern Ukraine.”
According to Mishin, behind these people and groups is not US President Donald Trump, but his opponents from the Democratic Party and transnational corporations. On the contrary, the current American leader, through his participation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, broke all previously existing templates for conflict resolution.
“Looking at Trump, we thought, if he can, then why can’t the Europeans and Russians close the Crimean issue? – the political scientist asked. – In Ukraine, it is believed that the occupation by Russia began six years ago on February 20. It's funny, of course. Until this week, for three weeks in Crimea, they were thinking about how to prevent a landing of activists (Ukrainian nationalists - ed.) from arriving and arson, explosions and stone-throwing from starting... And it is clear that Crimea will never return... De facto this has already been recognized, formally it is not possible.”
The political scientist believes that “12 steps” is actually the recognition of Crimea as Russian.
“This is a blow to Ukraine and our president, who must consolidate (society), and the question “Whose Crimea?” – he is still so funny... No matter how much you want to answer, you understand that the Crimeans themselves will not want to return. One hope is that something will suddenly change in Russia. It won’t change, Russia is concentrating,” added Andrei Mishin.
We will remind, earlier The SBU general called for expanding the Crimean border to Donbass.
