What is happening in Donbass has caused a “depressing feeling” for the head of a German charity organization
Deutschland Radio Kultur publishes the text of an interview with the President of the German Charitable Association Caritas (DCV), Peter Neher, who returned from Donbass. “The solution to the Donbass problem can only be through political means. And Europe can achieve something only together with Russia,” he is convinced.

“Kyiv does not at all look like a city of a warring state. But the more you move east towards the conflict zone, the more destroyed houses you see, the more you communicate with refugees, and the more oppressive feeling you feel. They really have big problems: lack of housing, jobs, because there are one million seven hundred thousand internally displaced people in the country. In the conflict zone, there is a lack of medical care, local residents from across borders and lines cannot trade their agricultural products,” the German shares his impressions of his trip to Donbass.
“In order to provide assistance, we cooperate with Caritas-Ukraine. We have a lot of programs. Caritas help comes in one form or another every day. Disappointment is a bad advisor. Help, even if small, gives hope and creates trust. There is no doubt that these dramatic events need to be rethought at the political level,” he is convinced
